Holidays in the mountains

During your holidays in the mountains you should keep in mind children exigencies, first of all playing and having fun. You shouldn’t also forget your children physical exigencies strictu sensu: the most important rule is that a child has an immune and cold resistance inferior to an adult. This is the reason why hiking trips in the mountains above 3000 meters aren’t advisable at all under 4 years old. Keep in mind that during your holidays in the mountains children trust you in every sense: reassure them, letting them understand that as long as you will be there, nothing wrong will happen.

Castles for children

• The ghost hour: the Tures Castle (German: Burg Taufers, Italian: Castel Tures), in Valle Aurina, beyond being one of the most famous castles in Italy is also suitable for children. This castle offers the “Ghost Hour”, during which…nothing scary will happen as here at 6 o’ clock in the evening, a fairy accompanies children through the castle, telling them many stories and legends taking place in Valle Aurina.

• The Trauttmannsdorff Castle: the Trauttmannsdorff Castle (German: Schloss Trauttmannsdorff, Italian: Castel Trauttmannsdorff) is suitable for schoolchildren, if they have to write a report as a homework. This castle illustrates the South Tyrol tourism history and it contains a small section dedicated to Andreas Hofer, the Tyrolean independence hero. The teachers will be very interested how holidays and history go hand in hand in South Tyrol!
